Healing doesn’t always begin in a therapy office. Sometimes, it starts in the most unexpected places. For me, it began at the base of a rock climbing tower—long before I became a Boise trauma therapist. In my 20’s I was in the darkest season of my life. I had moved away from my support system in an effort to save a failing marriage. Depression set in, leaving me isolated, disconnected, and overwhelmed. That’s when my friend Monica invited me to try something completely outside my comfort zone: rock climbing.
A Lesson in Trust and Letting Go
Standing at the bottom of a towering outdoor climbing spire, I looked up and thought: “Oh hell no.” But Monica treated me as if I wasn’t broken. She strapped me into a harness, explained the basics, and spoke two words that changed everything:
“Climb on.”
Step by shaky step, I pulled myself upward. My legs trembled. My heart raced. I wanted to quit, but Monica’s steady voice guided me from below.
Then came the real challenge: getting down. Terrified, I clung with all fours wrapped around the spire until she called up, “Just lean back and let go.”
I froze. But then trust overcame fear, and I surrendered. As the rope caught me, hot, healing tears poured down. For the first time in years, I felt seen.
That moment changed the course of my life.
Why I Chose Somatic Therapy in Boise
Rock climbing taught me something profound: healing happens when we reconnect with our bodies, trust ourselves, and allow space to release what we’ve been holding.
From that day forward, I committed to therapy, explored somatic practices, and studied psychology with passion. Over time, I not only healed but also felt called to help others do the same.
Today, I’m proud to serve the Boise community through a group practice of clinicians who share this mission. Our therapists are trained in trauma-focused, body-based interventions, offering care that goes beyond talk therapy to help clients truly heal. Together, we create a supportive environment where healing, connection, and courage can flourish.
- Somatic Experiencing – to gently release trauma stored in the body
- EMDR therapy in Boise – for healing painful memories
- Internal Family Systems (IFS) – to connect with and integrate all parts of self
- Trauma-informed yoga and movement – to restore safety, presence, and strength in the body
- Body-based group therapy and retreats – for connection, courage, and growth
Why Boise Clients Choose Somatic Therapy
Traditional talk therapy can be powerful—but trauma is often stored in the body as much as the mind. That’s why our Boise counseling practice emphasizes body-based approaches.
Clients come to us for help with:
- Healing trauma and PTSD
- Managing anxiety and depression
- Reducing stress and burnout
- Reconnecting with their bodies
- Finding strength and resilience during major life transitions
Our Mission: Holding the Rope for You
The heart of our Boise group practice is simple: we hold the rope while you climb.
Just like Monica stood at the base of that climbing tower for me, our team of therapists stands with you—steady, compassionate, and encouraging you to take the next step.
Healing takes courage. It takes trust. And sometimes, it takes learning how to lean back and let go.
This practice was born from that spirit of trust, compassion, and radical healing.
So if you’re looking for somatic therapy in Boise, EMDR therapy, or a supportive counseling community, we’re here for you. Climb on.
