EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an integrative psychotherapy approach that has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma. EMDR therapy is a set of standardized protocols that incorporates elements from many different treatment approaches. To learn more, visit www.emdria.org.
EMDR therapy has been declared an effective form of trauma treatment by a wide range of organizations. In the United States, these include the American Psychiatric Association, the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies, the Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs and the World Health Organization.
Individual Therapy
Our therapists draw from a range of evidence-based approaches to tailor treatment to each client’s unique needs. These may include Internal Family Systems and other parts work, psychodynamic therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, mindfulness, somatic approaches, and EMDR.
We work with adults and older teens experiencing trauma, codependency, grief, depression, anxiety, parenting concerns, and relationship challenges. Finding the right match matters, and we are committed to helping you find the therapist whose experience, approach, and personality best fit your needs.
Somatic Experiencing
Somatic Experiencing emphasizes the intrinsic connection between the mind and body. Unlike traditional talk therapy, which primarily focuses on cognitive and emotional processes from the neck up, somatic work involves the entire body in the healing process.
Somatic Experiencing uses the body as a doorway for working with trauma. Difficult experiences can shape automatic patterns in the nervous system—such as bracing, shutting down, staying on guard, or feeling disconnected from the body.
The therapist gently guides clients in noticing sensations, movement, breath, and protective responses. This helps clients develop a greater capacity to remain present with difficult experiences without becoming overwhelmed. Over time, these patterns can soften, allowing for greater flexibility, regulation, and a renewed sense of safety within the body.
EMDR Intensives
EMDR intensives are offered exclusively by Raelynn Grant, LCPC, an EMDR Certified Therapist, EMDRIA Approved Consultant, and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP).
Research suggests that EMDR delivered in an intensive format can significantly reduce PTSD symptoms, including for people with complex trauma. Traditional therapy sessions require time to settle in, reconnect with the work and prepare to stop. EMDR intensives offer a longer, uninterrupted period for focused processing without repeating that start-and-stop cycle each week.
Raelynn integrates Somatic Experiencing strategies throughout the intensive to track nervous-system responses, slow the process when needed, and support regulation. Breaks and grounding are built in. The goal is not to push through overwhelm, but to create enough time and support for meaningful work.
Three-Hour EMDR Intensive
A three-hour intensive allows us to focus on a specific memory, experience, or pattern that continues to affect your life. The extended time creates space to settle in, prepare carefully, engage in sustained processing, and close the session thoughtfully.
This option may be helpful when you want focused work without committing to a full day or several days of treatment.
Customized Extended Intensives
For clients who need more time, we also create individualized intensive plans. These may include a six-hour session or several extended sessions offered over consecutive or scheduled days.
The structure is developed around your history, goals, nervous-system capacity, and the complexity of what you want to address. Longer intensives include planned breaks, time for integration, and careful pacing throughout.
A consultation helps us determine whether an intensive is appropriate and what format would best support you.
For many of us, movement and time outdoors can help us settle, reflect, and connect with what is happening inside. When requested by the client and clinically appropriate, sessions may be held outdoors for walk-and-talk therapy, yoga, mindful movement, or other therapeutic experiences collaboratively planned by the client and therapist.
The natural environment becomes part of the therapeutic process, offering opportunities for grounding, sensory awareness, nervous-system regulation, and meaningful exploration. Research on nature-based approaches suggests potential benefits for stress, anxiety, mood, and overall well-being. Lets see what we can create together.
Therapeutic Fly-Fishing with EMDR
Raelynn offers Therapeutic Fly-Fishing with EMDR (TF-EMDR)℠, an experiential approach that brings EMDR beyond the therapy office and into a natural, movement-based setting. As a Certified TF-EMDR Therapist, she carefully guides clients through this unique integration of trauma therapy, movement, and nature.
TF-EMDR incorporates Tenkara, a simple traditional style of Japanese fly-fishing that invites attention to rhythm, movement, water, and sensory experience.
No fishing experience is needed. The goal is not to become a skilled angler or even to catch a fish. Fly-fishing becomes a pathway for healing through connection with the natural world.
TF-EMDR is an evidence-informed application of the EMDR Standard Protocol that allows trauma reprocessing to occur within nature rather than apart from it. The model was developed by Anthony “Tony” Parmenter, MA, who trained Raelynn directly in integrating this approach into clinical EMDR practice.

Is an EMDR Intensive Right for You?
After you submit an inquiry form, Raelynn will contact you for a consultation. Together, you will discuss your goals, current needs, and whether an intensive is an appropriate fit.
Intensives are best suited for clients who are not currently in crisis and have enough stability, safety, and emotional support to engage in focused trauma work. If you are unsure, Raelynn is happy to help you decide.
You may also participate in an intensive while continuing to work with your current therapist. With your permission, Raelynn can coordinate with your therapist to support continuity of care.
Traveling to Boise
Intensives are offered in Boise, Idaho. Clients who live elsewhere may travel to Boise and receive treatment while physically present in Idaho. Depending on your goals, customized intensives may also include therapeutic work in our beautiful nearby mountains or other supportive outdoor experiences.
If you are traveling, we can provide helpful information about lodging, transportation, the Boise airport, and nearby areas.
